Kayla Yaakov who races in MotoAmerica for Ducati team, in her Supersport debut, regains 10 positions and finishes in P25.
Good debut for the 17-year-old as a Barni Racing Team wild card in World SuperSport. Excellent start from the 35th box, the American kept a good pace, helped also by the Accossato CY021 radial brake master cylinder. Results that fully satisfied the team supported by Accossato and the experience was very formative for the continuation of his career in MotoAmerica. Weekend to forget, on the other hand, for Aquilano who, following the crash in qualifying, by mutual agreement with the team, chose not to race.
Kayla’s words:
“I am a racer and these results cannot make me 100 percent happy, but I learned a lot from this experience. The tires, the suspension, the characteristics of the circuit, everything was different from MotoAmerica, but I will take a lot of information with me. I worked with great people including Luca Minelli, Danilo Petrucci’s chief technician in Superbike. He and everyone else put themselves at my disposal, the team is very organized and professional, here in CIV the level is very high and it was nice to confront a completely new environment.”
At the end of the race Marco Barnabò stated:
“I have to say ‘bravo’ to Kayla as well, in her working method and driving sensibility she shows much more than her 17 years. She will go far. I hope this wild card has served her well in her growth, she is still very young and can grow more!”
